Scholastic Book Orders

I sent Scholastic Book order forms home today and the students seemed really excited about it. The book order is an excellent way to order books that are reasonably priced.

If you are interested in ordering books, complete the order form on the back and send it to school by Tuesday, January 16. Please include the total cost of the order also.

You may also go online and order through the website. The online code is: HGM8X

Please order online by Tuesday, January 16 also.

NWEA Testing Update and Math News

We will take the NWEA math test tomorrow. Because the students are taking the Unit 4 math test today, it would be too much testing to begin the NWEA math test today.

Don’t forget, spelling test is tomorrow.

Math Unit 5

On Monday, we will begin unit 5 and it is all multiplication! Students will be learning multiple strategies to multiply two digit numbers by one digit, two digit numbers by two digit, and three digit numbers by one digit. I will post examples, links and directions for each strategy. The unit assessment will require the students to solves problems using these specific strategies.

The most important practice homework right now is to memorize multiplication math facts! Students will be more successful if they know all math facts for numbers 0 – 12!

Happy Holidays!

Thank you so much to all of the parents who attended our holiday concert. The fourth grade students sounded marvelous!

Congratulations to our solists and poetry readers: Najla, Ahmed, Mekhi, Zahraa and LeMees!!

Holiday homework:

I did not send a homework packet but I do expect the students to go on StudyIsland and complete lessons for both math and ELA. NWEA testing begins the week we come back from break and two weeks is too long to go without practice. The students have everything in his or her planner to log in and access the assignments. The goal is consistent scores of 80% or higher.
