Mrs. Johnson's Fourth Grade

Dearborn Public Schools

Our First Google Hangout

Thank you to all of the families who joined our google hangout. Today’s hangout was informal and a great way to reconnect. I was so happy to see and hear everyone.
Next time we’ll have a writing circle so listening and taking turns will be really important. I asked students to write something they’d like to share. It can be any genre. Students should practice reading what they have written so that it will sound right to all of us listening.
I will schedule the hangout for the week after spring break and Ms. Khuja will join us because she was in our classroom for writing instruction this year.

Remote Learning Update

We are entering uncharted territory now. As of 3:00 today, I do not have any additional information from the district to report. Tomorrow, I will attend a virtual staff meeting beginning at 11:00. If and when I receive a new virtual meeting from Dr. Maleyko, I will post it here to keep the information flowing. What I know for sure, is that our way forward will change. The district will be developing a plan in order to meet the needs of the students in our district.

I have scheduled a Google Hangout meeting for Team Johnson at 1:30 tomorrow. I sent the invitation directly to each student’s school email and I will copy and paste it here tomorrow just prior to 1:30.
Students click on the link, mute the microphone and camera at first.
There is an option for using a device to connect or a phone number to call in order to join.
For students to access their school email account:

  1. Students will need to log into their Dearborn Schools account using their student number@dearbornschools.org
  2. In the center of the Resources for Students page is the email link. As always, please contact me if you need anything.

A note from the community

Parents,

We’ve got some great news to share! Zaman International will be at Dearborn High on Wednesday from 10-12:00 pm to deliver 250 boxes of food to families that may need them; the boxes feed a family of four for 1-2 weeks.

Feel free to use the south side of the building where normal breakfast and lunch pickup occurs.

Thanks Najah Bazzy and Zaman International for their generosity!

This is a message for all students who want to type their journal response and use the google classroom assignment.
Don’t turn it in.
Use it like you would a notebook. Type the date, enter two spaces and type your journal response. Close the document and then open it the next time you want to type. Type the date and begin your new entry.

Remote Learning Day 8

I can’t believe it’s been 8 days that we have been learning and working from home. Please continue to read and write every day. Take advantage of all of the resources the fourth grade team has provided. We are trying to decrease boredom and keep students engaged in interesting and challenging work.

I’m not sure if any of you are connected to district information or Mr. Maleyko’s blog. I am sending the link here today for the latest information update. I will continue to post links here and on our class dojo page to help answer some of the questions all of us have.
