Open House

Mark your calendars! Open House is Thursday, September 13 from 6:00 to 7:30. The Book Fair will be open during this time also.

Book Fair

Students will have a chance to look before the scheduled shopping day. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase new books for reading at home or in class.

Homework

Spelling test tomorrow! Make sure to study the week 1 words.

All students should be reading every day for a minimum of 20 minutes-even on the weekends!

Math: students will bring home the first math homework pages today. They will staple the homework help to the assignment. Pages will always be in the green folder. Help your child remember to put the homework back in the green folder to return it to school the very next day.

Language Arts Homework:

Read at least 20 minutes

Study Spelling words; test is Friday

All students received the spelling words today. They will always receive two lists. One list is glued in the planner page for the week and the other is glued in the spelling spiral for class work. The test is always at the end of the week. If I do not have time on Friday to correct and record test scores, I will return the test papers on Monday.

Math:

We are just beginning our new math curriculum. We practiced our first 4th grade sprint today.

Students do not have math homework today.

Forms

Please return all forms by tomorrow. There are several students who have not returned any of the forms that were sent home last week. Two forms are for the office: Emergency Contact Form and Household Information Survey. The other was attached to the Welcome letter I sent home on the first day.

It’s hard to believe but summer is just about over and we are ready to get back to work. I look forward to being your child’s teacher this year and I can’t wait to get to know new families and see familiar faces too. This is my third year at River Oaks but my fourteenth year teaching. I’ve taught fourth and fifth grades and am so excited to have the opportunity to teach fourth grade again.

It is important that we start the new school year on the right foot. We expect that all students will put forth his or her best effort every day by participating in class and by completing in class and homework assignments. In order to make my classroom the best place for everyone to learn, I will ensure that the students are safe and are provided with exciting opportunities to explore new ideas and ask questions. In addition, I need your help! As a team we can help and encourage your child to achieve great things. Students should come to school on time and be prepared to work every day. Please ask your child to share what is written in his or her planner and also ask to see completed homework assignments.

We have so much to accomplish in these last 9 days of school.

Homework:

Spelling Test on Friday. Students received the words on Tuesday.

Math; we will have the unit 9 test on Monday or Tuesday next week.

NWEA: we continue to complete NWEA science and language tests.

All students who met or exceeded spring goals will celebrate when we finish testing!

No homework this weekend.

Please remember, we will continue NWEA testing on Monday. A few students finished reading this morning. The rest of the students will complete the test on Monday.
