Winter!

Now that winter has arrived in full force, please send students to school with snow boots, shoes to wear in the building, hats, scarves and gloves or mittens. Unless it’s below 20 degrees or raining, the students have outdoor recess.
Students have reading homework every night. All students should be building up to at least 30 minutes of stamina.

2nd Grade: Travel Size Toothpaste & Toothbrush

Room 10 Notes and News

Hello Parents,

Tomorrow at 4:00 fall conferences begin. When possible, your child should attend the conference with you. It is important that he or she is part of the conversation also. We will discuss goals for winter and spring and well as your child’s progress so far. I am looking forward to seeing all of the parents tomorrow or next week. It would be awesome to have 100% attendance for conferences!

River Oaks Halloween Information

On Thursday, October 31st, students will be allowed to bring costumes to school.  Students will not be able to wear their costumes during the morning, but may put them on in the afternoon prior to our Halloween Parade at 2:15 PM.  Weather permitting, we will walk around the neighborhood of the school during the parade and then have time for class parties.  Parents are welcome to participate in the parade around the neighborhood, but must check into the office first in order to obtain a visitor’s pass. If it rains the parade will be around the inside of the school.

Notes about costumes:

PLEASE DO NOT WEAR COSTUMES TO SCHOOL. Instead, bring your labeled costume in a bag, with your student’s name on it.  Students will be able to change into their costumes in the afternoon. Students may NOT dress up as anything that contains, bloody looking, or would be considered scary for younger students who may be frightened by these costumes. Weapons or toys that resemble weapons are NOT permitted. Most classrooms will have their parties at 2:45 – 3:15, please check your classroom teacher’s blog for more information. A note is also going home today about this notice…
Thank you

Room 10 Notes and News

The first card marking is quickly coming to an end. We have just 3 short weeks left! Please remember to check your child’s planner every day after you have seen your child’s homework. Only 7 students returned math lesson 15 homework yesterday. The Module 1 math test is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 18. We will review in class on Thursday.
The students have reading homework every Wednesday and Friday. The directions are in their reading response notebook.
They have spelling homework every Tuesday and Thursday. The directions will always be written in the planner. Spelling homework is written in the spelling spiral.
Math homework is daily unless there is a note in the planner that there is no homework.
