The students have done an amazing job learning new routines and are ready to start fourth grade work!
Today, I am sending book bags with the students. These bags have a selection of books based on your child’s third grade reading scores. The students will read these levels until I finish assessing their current reading level. The students need to carry the books home every night for reading and bring them back to school every day. I will send new books home at the end of every week. This selection of books is for both reading instruction and reading at home. Sometimes the students will have specific pages or books to read. The students will always know when there is assigned reading for them. I will collect these books on Thursday, September 5 and send new books home on Friday, September 6.
Reading is critical to your child’s success in fourth grade. All students should read at least 30 minutes each day. Until your child has built up stamina, have them read for 10 or 15 minutes at a time for a total of 30 minutes.
