Congrats and best wishes to all the 4th and 5th grade students participating in the annual Cipriano run this upcoming Monday at Ford Field!

Nowlin has 22 students participating at this years event!!  Each student will receive a blue Nowlin Bandit T shirt to wear on race day and also a running bib with their unique number they are to attach on the front.

Rain or shine the event goes on so lets hope for nice weather this upcoming Monday!!

Fall Program Date Changes

Do to the high number of participants in the inaugural Fall seasons Healthy Kids Club, all 3rd – 5th grade students will participate in the club on Tuesdays and all Kindergarten – 2nd grade students will participate in the club on Thursdays. The safety and well-being of your child(ren) is the number one priority of the Healthy Kids Club.

Tuesday sessions (3rd grade – 5th grade)
10/9, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 11/20

Thursday sessions (K – 2nd grade)
10/11, 10/18, 10/25, 11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 11/27

Time: 3:30-4:20pm. Please pick your child up on time.

Come on out and educate yourself on Nowlin’s Healthy Community grant and Playworks ability to implement fun physical activities that promote inclusion and social development in your child(s).

Representatives from Wayne State and Playworks will be on hand to explain the Healthy Community Grant that we are a part of this year and to introduce parents to the Playworks program that is being implemented school wide.

Increase achievement and decrease discipline issues with effective Parent Talk. Learn communication skills that empower, encourage self-responsible behaviors, self-motivation and character development. Learn practical skills to positively effect the social and emotional development of your children and family. Certificate of completion is awarded to participants who complete the course.
Classes are Friday’s 1:00-2:30pm in Media Center

October 5, 12, 19, 26. November 9, 16, 30
Graduation: December 7, 2018.

The run takes place Monday October 15th at Ford Field Park in Dearborn. Please arrive with enough time to find a parking spot and allow your child plenty of time to prep and warm up. I will be at the starting line seeing our Bandits off prior to the shotgun start.

4th grade girls – 5:10pm
5th grade boys – 5:30pm
5th grade girls – 5:50pm

We have a nice turnout from Nowlin this year and will continue to prepare for the race in PE class. Please provide the motivation and support at home to continue their training.

Welcome back to the 2018-2019 school year all Bandits! I hope you had a restful and enjoyable summer. Stay tuned to the blog for updates on current events and out of school activities available this upcoming year. First up is the tth Annual Robert Cipriano Memorial Cross Country Run coming up Monday, October 15th and Ford Field Park in Dearborn. More information to follow next week as we get closer. This run is for grades 4th – 8th.

Field Day is scheduled for Friday June 8th from 9-11:30am. Rain date is Monday June 11th. More details to come shortly!

Great Job little Bandits that braved the rain and cold last weekend in an effort to complete their final 1.2 mile journey to the finish line!! The students have been wearing their medals proudly and deservingly so! We will be back next year with hopefully better weather:)

Jump Rope For Heart gift items have been shipped and are on their way to Nowlin. I am hoping they arrive by the end of the week so we can get the much deserved items out to those students that worked hard to raise donations. Thanks again on behalf of Nowlin Elementary and Dearborn Public Schools!

Just a friendly reminder that your child will be heading outside during select PE classes this upcoming spring season. Please remind them to dress accordingly on PE days and to always come prepared with comfortable gym shoes. Happy Spring Ya’ll!
