Main Idea:  Reading letters and numbers

Literacy Activity (10 minutes):  Letter search – look through mail ads or books, have your child find all letters A-Z.  If looking at mail ads, have your child cut the letters out.  If looking through a book, have your child write the letters down on a sheet of paper.

Challenge: Have your child look for only uppercase letters, then have your child find lowercase letters.

Math Activity (10 minutes):  Number stacks – Write numbers on a sheet or small piece of paper, then have your child use their cubes to make a stack that has that many cubes in it (see the picture below). (Send Mrs. Vasas a picture of the cube stacks)

Challenge: Write teen numbers for your child to count beyond 10.

Play Activity/Work Time (1 hour or more):

Start (Plan): Ask your child “What would you like to do today?”

Play (Do): Allow your child to play for at least 1 hour of free play time with their toys (no screens-no TV, no tablets).  It is important for your child to have time to be creative and use their imagination.

Clean-Up: Provide a warning before it is time for your child to clean up, so they can bring an end to their play.  Then have them clean up, or help clean up, the toys they were playing with.  It should not be your job to clean up after your child.

End (Review): Ask your child “What did you do today?”

*Mention what they told you at the start and see if they did do that or if they chose to do something different.  It is ok if they change their mind and do something different.*

Extra Activity (10 minutes):  Draw a zigzag line, a squiggle line, and a spiral line on a sheet of paper and have your child place beans over the lines (see the picture below).
