| Literacy Activity(10 minutes) | Watch the video of me reading the book to the children. Have your child read the story along with me by naming the color and animal on each page. After listening to the story, ask your child to tell you about the different animals they remember from the story. | Math Activity(10 minutes) | Color hunt- Have your child go on a color hunt around the house. Name a color (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white, black) and have your child go find 1 or more things that are that color. Challenge: Have your child find more than one item of each color. Have them count how many of each color items they found, then talk with them about which color has the most and which color has the least. |
| Play Activity(Work Time)(1 hour or more) | Start (Plan): Ask your child “What would you like to do today?” Play (Do): Allow your child to play for at least 1 hour of free play time with their toys (no screens-no TV, no tablets). It is important for your child to have time to be creative and use their imagination. Clean-Up: Provide a warning before it is time for your child to clean up, so they can bring an end to their play. Then have them clean up, or help clean up, the toys they were playing with. It should not be your job to clean up after your child. End (Review): Ask your child “What did you do today?” *Mention what they told you at the start and see if they did do that or if they chose to do something different. It is ok if they change their mind and do something different.* |
| Extra Activity(10 minutes) | Play I spy- Look around the room you are sitting in and find an item to describe. Say “I spy with my little eye, something that….” and describe it using colors, shapes, or other descriptive words. Let your child guess what it is until they get it right. Then have them describe something to you using descriptive words. |
