Today was scheduled to be field day. Use the day today to hang out and play with your child. Enjoy time outside in the fresh air and sunshine!

Main Idea:  Field Day

Literacy Activity (10 minutes):  Draw and write outside with chalk.  Create different pictures, write different names and words, or write different letters and numbers. (Send Mrs. Vasas a picture of chalk drawings outside)

Math Activity (10 minutes):  Play with a ball, bike, or scooter outside.  Kick the ball back and forth with your child, counting how many times you can kick it back and forth.  Have your child ride their bike or scooter around. (Send Mrs. Vasas a picture of your child playing outside)

Play Activity/Work Time (1 hour or more):

Start (Plan): Ask your child “What would you like to do today?”

Play (Do): Allow your child to play for at least 1 hour of free play time with their toys (no screens-no TV, no tablets).  It is important for your child to have time to be creative and use their imagination.

Clean-Up: Provide a warning before it is time for your child to clean up, so they can bring an end to their play.  Then have them clean up, or help clean up, the toys they were playing with.  It should not be your job to clean up after your child.

End (Review): Ask your child “What did you do today?”

*Mention what they told you at the start and see if they did do that or if they chose to do something different.  It is ok if they change their mind and do something different.*

Extra Activity (10 minutes):  Make your own bubbles.  Use a spoonful or 2 of dish soap, add ¼ cup of water and stir.  Use bubble wands to blow bubbles. (Send Mrs. Vasas a picture of child blowing bubbles)
