Main Idea: Story and Measuring
Literacy Activity (10 minutes): Watch the video of Mrs. Vasas reading the book ‘Elmer.’ Then have your child draw a picture of their own colorful elephant. It could be colorful squares like Elmer or it could be any colorful design they would like. (Send a picture of their colorful elephant to Mrs. Vasas)

Math Activity (10 minutes): Measure length of items. Use the cubes to measure how long the scissors, glue stick, book, journal, and anything else the kids would like. See the pictures below to see how to measure different items. (Send me pictures of the different items being measured)
Play Activity/Work Time (1 hour or more):
Start (Plan): Ask your child “What would you like to do today?”
Play (Do): Allow your child to play for at least 1 hour of free play time with their toys (no screens-no TV, no tablets). It is important for your child to have time to be creative and use their imagination.
Clean-Up: Provide a warning before it is time for your child to clean up, so they can bring an end to their play. Then have them clean up, or help clean up, the toys they were playing with. It should not be your job to clean up after your child.
End (Review): Ask your child “What did you do today?”
*Mention what they told you at the start and see if they did do that or if they chose to do something different. It is ok if they change their mind and do something different.*
Extra Activity (10 minutes): If you have sheets left to do in the packet, choose a sheet to work on today. If you do not have any sheets left, practice using scissors by cutting paper/junk mail into pieces.
