Memorial Day and Eid are this weekend! Enjoy this long 4 day weekend with your family and take a break from school at home. No school work on Friday or Monday. We will be back to learning on Tuesday.
Main Idea: Learning outside
Literacy Activity (10 minutes): Uppercase and lowercase letter matching – Write uppercase letters in one row and lowercase letters in another row. Have your child use a piece of chalk and draw a line from the uppercase letter to the lowercase letter, like the picture below. (Send Mrs. Vasas a picture of the letter matching)

Challenge: Say a letter out loud and have your child write that letter with chalk. Tell your child if you want them to write in uppercase or lower or both.
Math Activity (10 minutes): Draw different shapes on the sidewalk, either you draw or your child can draw. Then name a shape and have your child move to stand on the shape you named. (Send Mrs. Vasas a picture of the shapes drawn outside)
Challenge: Use shapes to create pictures outside with the chalk, like a square and a triangle to make a house. (Send Mrs. Vasas pictures of your drawings)
Play Activity/Work Time (1 hour or more):
Start (Plan): Ask your child “What would you like to do today?”
Play (Do): Allow your child to play for at least 1 hour of free play time with their toys (no screens-no TV, no tablets). It is important for your child to have time to be creative and use their imagination.
Clean-Up: Provide a warning before it is time for your child to clean up, so they can bring an end to their play. Then have them clean up, or help clean up, the toys they were playing with. It should not be your job to clean up after your child.
End (Review): Ask your child “What did you do today?”
*Mention what they told you at the start and see if they did do that or if they chose to do something different. It is ok if they change their mind and do something different.*
Extra Activity (10 minutes): Ride your bike! Today was going to be bike day at school. Have your child ride their bike outside. (Send Mrs. Vasas a picture of your child riding their bike)
