Main Idea: Foods they eat

Literacy Activity (10 minutes): Watch the video of Mrs. Vasas reading ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar.’ Then help your child draw and write in their journal foods they like to eat. Use the sentence starter ‘I like to eat…’ (Send Mrs. Vasas a picture of the journal page your child drew and wrote)

Math Activity (10 minutes): Grab some cereal, fruit snacks, or candy that your child likes to eat. Have them sort them into the different colors, or character, or flavor. Count how many are in each group. Then allow your child to enjoy their snack. (Send Mrs. Vasas a picture of the sorted groups)

Challenge: Create a chart showing how many are in each group. Use the pictures below to help you create your own chart. (Send Mrs. Vasas a picture of the chart)

Play Activity/Work Time (1 hour or more):

Start (Plan): Ask your child “What would you like to do today?”

Play (Do): Allow your child to play for at least 1 hour of free play time with their toys (no screens-no TV, no tablets). It is important for your child to have time to be creative and use their imagination.

Clean-Up: Provide a warning before it is time for your child to clean up, so they can bring an end to their play. Then have them clean up, or help clean up, the toys they were playing with. It should not be your job to clean up after your child.

End (Review): Ask your child “What did you do today?”

*Mention what they told you at the start and see if they did do that or if they chose to do something different. It is ok if they change their mind and do something different.*
