Main Idea: Writing letters and numbers
Literacy Activity (10 minutes): Watch the video of ‘Chicka Chicka Boom Boom’ and have your child name the letters along with the song.
Challenge: Have your child practice writing their uppercase and lowercase letters on their sheet.
Math Activity (10 minutes): Use the chalk, go outside, and draw a hopscotch board for the kids to hop on. Your child can either write the numbers inside to read or can draw dots for your child to count. (Send Mrs. Vasas a picture of the hopscotch outside)
Play Activity/Work Time (1 hour or more):
Start (Plan): Ask your child “What would you like to do today?”
Play (Do): Allow your child to play for at least 1 hour of free play time with their toys (no screens-no TV, no tablets). It is important for your child to have time to be creative and use their imagination.
Clean-Up: Provide a warning before it is time for your child to clean up, so they can bring an end to their play. Then have them clean up, or help clean up, the toys they were playing with. It should not be your job to clean up after your child.
End (Review): Ask your child “What did you do today?”
*Mention what they told you at the start and see if they did do that or if they chose to do something different. It is ok if they change their mind and do something different.*
Extra Activity (10 minutes): Complete the scavenger hunt below. Have your child count how many of each item is in your house.
