Main Idea:  Names

Literacy Activity (10 minutes): Journal writing – Have your child write and draw using the sentence starter ‘I can see…’ using the sight word sheet.  Have your child watch the video of my journal writing to remember how to write in their journal. (Send Mrs. Vasas a picture of the journal page)

Math Activity (10 minutes):  Look at the picture below and read each child’s name.  Count how many letters are in each child’s name and read the number at the end of the name.

Challenge: Compare the number of letters in each child’s name.  Whose name has the most letters?  Whose name has the least letters?

Challenge: Have your child write the names of people in the family.  Count how many letters are in each person’s name.  Whose name has the most?  Whose name has the least?

Play Activity/Work Time (1 hour or more):

Start (Plan): Ask your child “What would you like to do today?”

Play (Do): Allow your child to play for at least 1 hour of free play time with their toys (no screens-no TV, no tablets).  It is important for your child to have time to be creative and use their imagination.

Clean-Up: Provide a warning before it is time for your child to clean up, so they can bring an end to their play.  Then have them clean up, or help clean up, the toys they were playing with.  It should not be your job to clean up after your child.

End (Review): Ask your child “What did you do today?”

*Mention what they told you at the start and see if they did do that or if they chose to do something different.  It is ok if they change their mind and do something different.*

Extra Activity (10 minutes):  Have your child move along with the cosmic kids yoga video ‘Space Picnic’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d85dw-AcAaU
