Ms. Unis and I enjoyed talking with the kids and families yesterday! I will be dropping off materials to your front porches soon so that you have more materials at home for learning. I just need to sort all the materials for the kids!

Remember to send me pictures of your child working on their learning! I love to see the kids and to see what they are doing.

Main Idea:  Happy Birthday Mrs. Vasas

Literacy Activity (10 minutes):  Draw a picture for Mrs. Vasas for her birthday.  Send a picture of the drawing to Mrs. Vasas for her to see.

Challenge: Write a birthday message to Mrs. Vasas on your drawing.

Math Activity (10 minutes):  Mrs. Vasas is now 35!  Can you count all the way to 35? Take a video of your counting for Mrs. Vasas.

Challenge: Find 35 things in your house to make a group.  Take a picture of your things to show Mrs. Vasas just how much 35 is.

Play Activity/Work Time (1 hour or more):

Start (Plan): Ask your child “What would you like to do today?”

Play (Do): Allow your child to play for at least 1 hour of free play time with their toys (no screens-no TV, no tablets).  It is important for your child to have time to be creative and use their imagination.

Clean-Up: Provide a warning before it is time for your child to clean up, so they can bring an end to their play.  Then have them clean up, or help clean up, the toys they were playing with.  It should not be your job to clean up after your child.

End (Review): Ask your child “What did you do today?”

*Mention what they told you at the start and see if they did do that or if they chose to do something different.  It is ok if they change their mind and do something different.*

Extra Activity (10 minutes):  Sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Mrs. Vasas and send her a video of your singing.

Create a birthday cake for Mrs. Vasas! Use play-doh, legos, paper, anything you might have around your house.
