Ms. Unis and I will be calling everyone tomorrow, Wednesday, afternoon. We are calling just to check in, see how everything is going, and maybe talk with the kids. If you get a call from a unknown or blocked number, please answer because it is probably Ms. Unis or me calling.

Main Idea:  Mrs. Vasas Class

Literacy Activity (10 minutes): Watch the video of Mrs. Vasas spelling and writing the names of the boys and girls in class.  Help Mrs. Vasas by saying the first letter of each child’s name after Mrs. Vasas makes the letter sound.

Challenge: Write the names of all the kids in the class. (Send me a picture of your child’s writing)

Math Activity (10 minutes):  Count along with Mrs. Vasas to see how many names are written on the board.  Count to 16 by yourself.

Challenge: Find 16 things around your house to make a collection of 16.

Play Activity/Work Time (1 hour or more):

Start (Plan): Ask your child “What would you like to do today?”

Play (Do): Allow your child to play for at least 1 hour of free play time with their toys (no screens-no TV, no tablets).  It is important for your child to have time to be creative and use their imagination.

Clean-Up: Provide a warning before it is time for your child to clean up, so they can bring an end to their play.  Then have them clean up, or help clean up, the toys they were playing with.  It should not be your job to clean up after your child.

End (Review): Ask your child “What did you do today?”

*Mention what they told you at the start and see if they did do that or if they chose to do something different.  It is ok if they change their mind and do something different.*

Extra Activity (10 minutes):  Count how many letters are in each child’s names.  Whose name has the most letters?  Whose name has the least amount of letters?

Count how many names start with a specific letter.  How many names start with A?  How many names start with S?  Keep asking for all the letters.
