Constructing a Map Second Grade Activity (All maps are due no later than Monday, January 4th !)
On the provided construction paper, students will construct a map.
Students will create streets (minimum of 4-5 streets). They need to name the streets.
Students will also include a map key specifically for their map. The symbols on the map key need to be colored the same colors as on the map. Students will then place the different symbols on the map. Attached, you will find some symbols that students may use; however, you are not limited to these symbols. Feel free to create your own using magazines clippings, computer-generated symbols, and/or hand-drawn symbols to represent places and objects for your map.
Students will also need to include a compass rose and title for their map.
Students will be graded on the following:
Title
Minimum of 4 (straight) roads
Roads have names
Compass Rose present
Minimum of 5 symbols on map
Symbols used are present on map key
Words spelled correctly
Symbols are colored/cut/glued neatly
Name is clearly visible on back of map
