Hello everyone:

This week in school we are continuing some things are finishing others:

ELA: We are learning about songs and how characters react to situations in songs and poems.

Writing: We have completes our narratives and will be doing district prompts.

Math: We are finishing our unit on comparing numbers: A study Guide went home today.  The Test is on THURSDAY this week.

Science: We are continuing to learn about matter and the three stages of matter.

Social Studies: We are leaning about communities.

Homework tonight is to

1)study your math study guide.  Also work with your child on comparing numbers using greater than and less than.

2) Do a weekly spelling activity.

*All 4 spelling activities for the week are due Thursday.  Please do not leave them all to be done Wednesday night, start them as soon as possible.

Homework tonight is to color your math sheet and make it hallway ready.  We picked a number between 100 and 200 and wrote it four ways:

1. word form
2. number form or standard form
3. base ten blocks
4. expanded form

Some parents have approached me and mentioned that MYON hasn’t been working for them when the students sign on from home.  I will let you know what to do to correct this as soon as I here back 🙂  Happy Thursday

Happy Monday:

This week we will be learning the following:

Math: We are continuing our unit on inequalities (greater than and less than), counting by 5’s and 10’s, adding using rules, and writing numbers in different forms.  This week we are focusing on comparing numbers and writing them in different forms.  The unit test is next week and students will bring home their pretest as a study guide on Thursday.  They will have a week to study.

ELA: We are working on short A’s and long A’s, we are continuing to learn about folk tales and will begin to learn about the elements of songs.

Writing: We are working on narratives and are focusing on retelling the story of Cinderella focusing on transition words and story order.

Science: We are working on matter.

Social Studies: We are learning about communities and what makes a community special.

Homework Tonight:

1. Read for 20 minutes.
2. Do a spelling Bingo Activity- a laminated copy of the spelling Bingo sheet is coming home for your child to use EVERY WEEK.  You can mark off the weeks choice with a dry erase marker.  Do not lose it- if your child loses it you will need to print off another one.  A copy of the Bingo sheet is attached to last week’s blog.

Homework this weekend is to read every day for 20 minutes.
