Tomorrow is our first LATE START day.  Remember that school doesn’t start until 9:40.

Breakfast doesn’t open until 9:00 AM so don’t come before then.

Homework is:

  1. Study Flash cards- we will have a fact fluency quiz this week so study your flash cards.
  2. Complete your spelling activities if you haven’t already.
  3. Read on Myon- I have assigned you books on Water for science- please read these 2 books for class tomorrow 🙂

Parent Talk Begins Every Tuesday and Thursday at 9am in the cafeteria. Join us!

Do you sometimes wish you could get your children to listen without becoming frustrated?  Do you use gentle ways to talk and discipline them? Join us every Tuesday and Thursday mornings beginning November 15th for a parenting workshop that highlights a program in Dearborn Public Schools called “Parent Talk.”

District Parent Educator Mrs. Margaret King Ahmed will be our guest speaker.  You will learn how to discipline your child gently, yet still be effective, and teach lessons that will last a lifetime.

Classes begin Tuesday, November 15th at 8:50am in the cafeteria and run twice till December. They will be in Arabic and English.

YOU MUST ATTEND   EVERY CLASS TO GRADUATE WITH A CERTIFICATE.

تعالوا لنتعلم كيفية تربية الاولاد بلطف وباسلوب فعال يستمر مدى الحياة.  تبدأ الدروس في هذا البرنامج نهار الثلثاء في 15 تشرن الثاني/نوفمبر الساعة 8:50 دقيقة صباحاً وتستمر يومين في الاسبوع لمدة شهر كامل وستكون باللغتين العربية والانكليزية.

Friday:   Internet Safety Parent Meeting at 9am in the cafeteria.

We will discuss children’s use of the internet, to understand the benefits, dangers, and risks of internet use, discuss sexual solicitation and cyberbullying, and how parents can protect their children.

Friday 11/11/16

Today in class we covered a lot of new material.  We introduced clocks for the first time: Please work with your child on telling time using an analog clock (The clocks with hands, not digital clocks)

Homework this weekend:

  1. Practice math facts
  2. Read for 20 minutes every day

Spelling words for next week are:

grow, low, toe, goes, soap, give, once, open, live, would, water, conserve, save

Thursday 11/10/16

Thank you to all of the parents who came to parent teacher conferences tonight.  I am very grateful that everyone was on time and everything ran smoothly.  It is wonderful to work with such a great group of parents that are engaged in their child’s education 🙂

Homework tonight:

  1. Read for 20 minutes
  2. Practice your spelling words- your spelling test is tomorrow.
  3. Next week we begin working on telling time and counting change (money).  If you are looking for some activities to help your child, have them count change when you go to the store or tell you the time using an analog clock (the type with two hands).  This will motivate them and they can connect it to real life skills.

Wednesday 11/9/16

Hello Parents:

If you have not already signed and returned your child’s math and science test to school please do so.  This ensures that I know you saw your child’s grade.  I checked the signatures today the tests have been returned to your child- some students have brought them home and some children hung them up because they were proud of them.

Parent teacher conferences start tomorrow from 4:00-7:00.  If you cannot make your assigned time please call the school and let me know- I have some parents who need a new time slot and if you cannot attend I would like them to be able to come and plan accordingly.  If your conference is next week you will get a call from me next week reminding you.  EVERY student got a conference paper invite Monday to take home with your conference date and time on it.  If your child didn’t bring their’s home please call me or send a note and I will make you a new one.

  1. Complete math hw page 103-104 from your Practice and Problem Solving Book.  Parents your child is also bringing home pages 101-102 to explain what we are learning.
  2. Read for 20 minutes.
  3. Sign your child’s math and science test (if you haven’t already) and return to school on Wednesday.

No School tomorrow 11-8-16

This week in school we will be learning the following:

Daily 5 Cafe: We are focusing on non-fiction text and learning to sort important facts from opinions and unimportant facts.

Writing: We are beginning our informational papers on bats- we have been learning about them last week and today.

Math: We are moving on to telling time, counting money (change), and 3 digit numbers with base ten blocks.  Students struggled with finding the missing addend, and writing a subtraction problem that goes with an addition problem on our test last weekend.  We will continue to work on this during math workshop this month.

Science: We are beginning our new unit on water- this week we are focusing on the 3 states of water.

Social studies: We are working on reading maps with symbols.

 

Monday: pizza pm  THANKSGIVING CANNED FOOD DRIVE CONTINUES! On Friday Ms. Earle’s class was in the lead with Mrs. Gartha’s class a close second. Let’s see who sweeps it this Friday!  Please send Thanksgiving food items mostly. Canned veggies, boxed mashed potatoes, rice, cranberry sauce, gravy.

Thursday 11/3/16

The students took their science and math tests today.  The will have a graded science test to bring home tomorrow- their graded math tests will come home on Monday.

Tomorrow we get out of school at 11:45.  Please be on time 🙂

Homework today- study your spelling words for the spelling test tomorrow. That’s it! Have a great night.

Don’t forget to bring in cans or boxed goods for the Thanksgiving donation can drive.

Homework tonight:

We have a science and math test tomorrow.  We did science Jeopardy today and the students did very well but they still need to practice the study guide at testmoz.com/924951.  Remember practice makes perfect.

Every student took home their math study guide last Friday- they have had 6 days to practice.  Just in case they lost it our test is on even and odd numbers, fact families, writing a number sentence for a story problem, adding with a number line, and drawing a picture to represent the addition problem.  Happy Studying 🙂
