Happy Monday:

Homework today is to:

  1. Complete pages 70-71 in their reading instruction book.  The story and questions are titled “Which way does the wind blow?”.
  2. Complete a weekly spelling activity.  The words were posted yesterday.

We started learning about graphs today.  Students will be bringing home math homework about graphs tomorrow.

Homework over the break:

  1. Complete the language and math packet I sent home.
    1. Read the article and answer the questions.
    2. Complete the adding 4 addends worksheet

Information about the CORE VALUE ASSEMBLY TOMORROW:

Hello Parents,
Tomorrow is our big Core Value Assembly. You are invited to watch your child at 9:30 am if they are in Pre k to 2nd grade.
If they are in 3rd to 5th grade their time will be at 10:15am.
Students of the  Month and Bucketfillers will be awarded for November and December ONLY! This is not for the children in the showcase now which are January’s choices,
Also,  we will honor your child if they scored 80% or higher in the last NWEA testing period. We will also honor 1st, 2nd and 3rd place math masters.
Lastly,  we will give out awards for children show great effort.
If you are not sure if your child is being honored tomorrow you can email the teacher directly.

Tomorrow is late start.  Remember we start school an hour later.  Do not come until 9:35.

  1. Practice addition and subtracting for the math-a-thon tomorrow.  See yesterday’s post for directions to go to the ILearn practice site.
  2. Read for 20 minutes
  3. Complete a weekly spelling activity

Monday 2/13/17

Homework for tonight:

  1. Practice for the addition and subtraction math-a-thon on Wednesday this week.  Follow the following instructions to get there.

    2. Click on Oakman Math-a-thon
    3. Under 2nd grade practice both the addition and the subtraction page.
    4. This is just like how the math a thon will be set up this winter.  Students may practice as many times as they want.  Let’s try and make everyone in our class a math scholar 🙂
  2. Do a weekly spelling activity for the week. The spelling words for this coming week are: alone, again, agree, comma, idea, Earth,  feature, past, present, history, topic

This week’s school news

Monday: Valentine Candygram orders. $1 each . Send to your mom, sister, classmates and teacher.

Tuesday: Candygrams are distributed. Pizza pm

Wednesday: Late Start!   MATH-A-THON in the afternoon  AND

SKATE party at Lincoln Park Skating Center with Oakman Staff.

The bus will arrive at 4:15. Only children grades 2-5 will ride the bus and there are only 5 spots left! See Ms. Amged. The rest of the students will meet us there at 4:30 with their parents. How fun! Come skate with your teacher!

Children will buy concessions at the rink. See menu below. We will be back between 6:30 and 7pm. Parents can meet us on Orchard for student pick up. NO ELECTRONICS ALLOWED on the bus.

Thursday: MATH DAY GAMES K-2. Parents, grandparents and families invited to the classrooms for Kindergarten through second grade at 2:30 pm. Play games and have fun!

Friday:  CORE VALUE ASSEMBLY 9:30  for  pre k to 2 and 10:15 for 3-5th grade.  The awards will be November and December Students of the Month, Bucketfillers, Math Masters Term II,  Winter NWEA top scorers.
