Nominations due March 1 for Mayor’s Art Awards
Public nominations are due March 1 for the annual Dearborn Mayor’s Arts Awards.
Mayor John B. O’Reilly Jr. and the Dearborn Community Arts Council, with support from the Dearborn Community Fund, hosts the annual Mayor’s Arts Awards to show appreciation of the artists, arts educators, arts volunteers and arts supporters who keep the arts strong and exciting throughout Dearborn.
The public is invited to recognize artists and those who advocate for and support the arts in Dearborn and the surrounding area by submitting nominations for the 31st Annual Mayor’s Arts Awards. Applications are due by Friday, March 1 to recognize those who have enriched lives and communities with their talent and dedication as either an outstanding visual or performing artist; an educator in the arts; a business, a patron, a volunteer, or simply a very special supporter of the arts.
Nominations for the 2019 Mayor’s Arts Awards can be submitted online at www.dcacarts.org, by e-mail to DCAC Director Ralph Valdez at rvaldez@ci.dearborn.mi.us, or by mail to DCAC Mayor’s Arts Awards Review Committee, 15801 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn, MI 48126
Last year’s Mayor’s Arts Awards recipients were: Noretta Dunworth, Mayor’s Award; Park Place Caterers, Arts Patron Award; Sharon Baloga, Arts Educator Award; David Wood, Volunteer Award; Haydar Al Yasiry, Artist/Performer Award; Stout Theater Company, Arts Organization Award; and Leslie Herrick, DCAC Bravo Award.
The public is invited to attend the 31st Annual Mayor’s Arts Awards ceremony, featuring awards and entertainment, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. Admission is free.
