Ahhhhh! Winter?

Ahhhhh! Winter?

Believe it or not, I am hoping for a big snow to inspire our snowman perspective unit!  The kindergartners have begun, despite our spring-like weather!

Currently, the studio artists are working on a lot!

Kdg – completed color-mixing with paint to create a color wheel, created orange organic shapes, and have begun snowmen!

1st and 2nd have been working for a very long time to complete a Frank Stella inspired, 3D, Abstract Art collage!  YES!  your artist can tell you ALL of that and more about their collage!  Look for these in the Howard Art Gallery!

3rd grade artists are in the final stages of color mixing to create a Kandinsky style concentric circle painting.

4th grade artists are learning the color wheel – the order, proper spelling, classification and color mixing.  They took a pre-test, created a color wheel and are practicing mixing the colors and painting the mixed color-wheel colors into a Kandinsky style composition.  Reviewing for next week’s test is happening this week!

5th grade artists are creating Kandinsky paintings while exploring many different watercolor techniques and the principles of art – movement and emphasis!

4/5 split is working on Equal Rights Personal Art.  All students chose an equal rights topic, looked at art from the DIA to inspire visual creativity and are creating individual artworks from clay sculptures, to mosaics to paintings.

Tired of the rain and the kids are getting restless?  Ms. Phillips shared this great YouTube link for drawing:

Have a great week!
