Welcome Message From the Principal!

Welcome to another successful school year at Lowrey School! Please allow me to introduce myself.

I am Mrs. Rima Younes, Principal of Lowrey School.  I was honored and privileged to become Lowrey School’s principal in 2010, following 3 years of service as the assistant principal at Lowrey School.  My educational career began at Lowrey School as an elementary and middle school teacher for 8 years, prior to my appointment in administration.

I grew up in Dearborn and attended school in the Dearborn Public Schools District, graduating from Fordson High School. I earned an undergraduate and Master’s/ Specialist degree from Eastern and Wayne State Universities with a specialization in academics and leadership.

I additionally went on to get my bilingual endorsement and specialty in curriculum and instruction. These specialty areas inform my leadership and teaching approaches, as I view literacy as the foundation of academic progress. I trained in the 3 year Galileo Project which emphasized administrative leadership and best practices.

I view a collaborative school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and students.  I believe in collaboration with parents and community partners are essential to enriching the experiences for all at Lowrey School.

I look forward to working side by side with our entire Professional Learning Community. Our hearts and doors are always open for any concerns or input you may have. Please attend our parent meetings, read our Lowrey School Newsletter, and join our PTA. I wish everyone a safe, peaceful, and successful school year.

Welcome Back!

As you journey through the 2020-2021 school year, I would like you to keep in mind ….

Dear Families,

We have an exciting journey ahead! I hope you’ve all had an enjoyable and much relaxing summer and are looking forward to a wonderful academic year as I am. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you, open lines of communication and introduce the class syllabus.

My name is Mrs. Fatima Al Raishouni and this year marks my fifth year teaching in the Dearborn Public school district. I carry a Bachelor of Arts Degree and certification to teach k-5th grade, all subjects, and 6th-8th grade mathematics and language arts from The University of Michigan-Dearborn. Additionally, I have a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy with Administrative Certification from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. I am both grateful and excited to be working with you and your child this year.

Moreover, I consider myself fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful, determined and inspiring team. Here at Lowrey, it is our mission to educate all students to high academic standards within a safe, stimulating environment and ensure that they are prepared to become productive citizens. I will do my best to educate, inspire, and celebrate each child and provide them with a safe and stimulating environment so that they may reach academic excellence and be productive members in their community and beyond.

As I will be teaching your child either Computer Applications or Multimedia (please check schedule to learn which course your child has with me) for a semester, it is my goal to teach for understanding and application. I will work with your child to develop and progress either their computer applications skill or multimedia skills (some overlap exists between both courses. Some developed and progressed skills will be shared.) to participate effectively as citizens and workers in our contemporary world. I hope to motivate them to become life-long learners and responsible, successful individuals.

I am excited for the chance to get to know your child, and I am looking forward to a happy, successful and productive school year.

Located in both the Computer Applications page and Multimedia page of this site is a course syllabus corresponding to the course your child is scheduled for with me. Please take some time to review the syllabus with your child and then fill out the Google Form attached at the bottom of the page by clicking on the link. I look forward to working collaboratively with you in helping to maximize your child’s technology potential. Should you have any question(s) or concern(s), please feel free to contact me via my Schoology course or by email at: alraisf@dearbornschools.org. Remember that together, we achieve more!

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to improve your child’s experience in my class.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Fatima Al Raishouni
