7th Grade: Bellwork: What area in collaboration do you need to grow in?

Today students watched a short video about cause and effect machines. Students were given the criteria and constraints for the machine project:

Criteria:

1. Move the white ball into the red cup.
2. Have as many cause and effect steps as possible.

Constraints:

1. Use only the materials provided.
2. The ball must be stationary (not moving) to start.
3. The ball must be put in motion without a person touching it.
4. The machine must fit on your team’s tables.

Students began by drawing a plan for their machine, and started using the materials to test out their ideas. Tomorrow we will continue with this group project, which will be a summative grade of 30 points. Students will be graded using the attached rubric.

Homework: None

The engineering quiz is this Friday, Nov. 2. 2018. This will be the last summative grade for the first card marking.
