Number Systems: We took our first LCM Slot quiz. Homework is practice on finding the LCM and GCF (see homework attachments). You CAN use a calculator.
Geometry: We created a right rectangular prism from a greeting card in order to investigate finding volume using centimeter cubes.
Geometry vocabulary test #2 postponed and will be tomorrow.

Number System: We are finding the least common multiple. Homework is to complete the 1st slot quiz and the Frayer model describing factors and multiples (see homework attachment page). Use your ISN or math textbook as a reference.
Geometry: We completed a CER or claim, evidence, reasoning prompt to compare area of a right triangle with other quadrilaterals.
PLEASE have a dry erase marker at all times.
We will be creating a rectangular prism to investigate volume and surface area tomorrow so PLEASE bring in a roll of SCOTCH TAPE for yourself and if you can make any scotch tape donations that will be greatly appreciated!

On Friday, we took the Geometry District Common Assessment. Students saw their scores online Friday and I looked over the work and adjusted any points if work was shown correctly. These scores were passed back today and if you are interested in taking a retake, see me to schedule a time.
We have taken the practice Geometry vocabulary quiz on ilearn in class but if you would like it is open to review. This test will be Wednesday.
Number System: We are learning about finding the least common multiple or LCM in SLOT this week. Homework for Khan Academy this week is least common multiple (30 minutes). Otherwise, no homework and enjoy Halloween!

6th grade teachers were in the building but in professional development today. Students worked on classwork in finding area through problem solving. This was sent home along with homework (see homework attachment page).
Complete the 30 minutes on Khan Academy and skill of Area of Composite Shapes.

We are reviewing for the district common assessment for Geometry.

We worked on a practice assessment for the district test which will be on Friday. They need to complete it for homework (see homework attachments).
Khan Academy skill for the week is “Area of Composite Shapes.” 30 minutes will be due by Friday.
Report cards will be handed out in the large hallway leading to the horseshoe area. Please join Mrs. Bailey and I in room 41 for student-led conferences which are held today from 4 to 7.

Homework is to complete the practice quiz on Finding Distances in the Coordinate Plane. Quiz will be Monday. Also, if you didn’t have time in class, complete the practice quiz on Geometry Vocabulary list #2. This test will be Tuesday.
Next week we will be working on the practice for the district common assessment on parts of the Geometry unit. District test is Friday!
Conferences will be held on Monday, 4-7 and Wednesday, 3:30-6:30. Come at a time convenient for you and they will be student-led. Mrs. Bailey and I will be meeting in my room (41).

Number Systems: We are plotting points to create complex polygons and finding the area by decomposing. Our first SLOT quiz will be tomorrow.
Geometry: We are finding distances on the coordinate plane by counting units or using the difference in absolute values.
