Khan Academy Summer Learning Update

All middle school students were assigned summer learning using Khan Academy.

We are aware of the recent issues with Khan Academy being removed from Clever. In order to continue with your math summer learning minutes, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Dearborn Public Schools homepage
  2. Go to Student Portal
  3. Type khanacademy.org in URL and click enter
  4. Your name or ID number will appear on the top right corner of your screen, if not, follow the steps prompted.
  5. Make sure you are using your Dearborn School gmail account and NOT your personal account.
  6. If you cannot view your minutes, your teacher will be able to retrieve the information in the fall.

**Remember only 480 exercise minutes count towards summer learning.

**This will be your first formative grade in the Fall.

Summer Learning Information

Posted by Ms. Taha on June 10, 2020 in Class News |

Please see the attached letter and presentation regarding summer learning on Khan Academy. It is similar to last summer’s learning assignment where you will complete 480 minutes. This will be your first grade going into 7th grade. Don’t wait until the end of summer to start on this! I hope the end of the school year finds you and your families well, safe and healthy and you have a relaxing summer.

Please read over the plan carefully and watch the video lesson prior to starting your graded assignments. And on iReady, you must complete the entire video tutorial including the QUIZ questions at the end.

Weekly Plan 5/10 – 5/15

Posted by Ms. Taha on May 10, 2020 in Class News |

The plan for this week 5/10 through 5/15 is now in your google class. We are starting a new unit, Geometry, and this is the first lesson, “Area of Polygons.” Like we have been doing, read over the plan and watch the presentation I created before beginning your assignments. I am only assigning Khan and iReady this week, it might be a good idea to catch up on any previous assignments you may have missed. For iReady, keep in mind you need to watch the complete video and then TAKE THE QUIZ after the video tutorial. Happy Mother’s Day to your mothers, be good to them today and always!

Posted by Ms. Taha on May 3, 2020 in Class News |

All the assignment information is posted in google classroom! Just like last week, please view the video presentation I created, this week we will be learning about dependent and independent variables. It is wise to watch this video and the short Khan videos before attempting your assignments.

As long as you are putting in effort, you will earn at least an A, B or C for this marking period. Let me know if you have any specific questions about the assignments by email. Hope you’re all doing well.

Please go to google classroom, but I posted the plan above for this week as well. Please watch the video I posted in google classroom (with sound) of the slide presentation of our lesson for this week on Inequalities. I also posted the slides if you would like to view or print the information. I would highly recommend you use the following order to complete your math assignments. 1. Watch the video of the inequality lesson slide presentation. 2. Go to Khan and watch the videos and complete all practice questions before you attempt the quiz. 3. Complete the iReady tutorial and quiz (you have been assigned a lesson this week). 4. Complete the IXL skills.

I have updated your grades with last weeks assignments on Equations. If you missed any work, you can complete it and email me to check it. Grading this marking period, if you show any good effort, you have the ability to earn an A, B or C. If you don’t plan on completing any work at all, you will not be able to earn credit. However, please contact me if there are any extenuating circumstances.

Google Meet Cancelled for 4/24

Posted by Ms. Taha on April 23, 2020 in Class News |

There have been a lot of issues with google meets across the district, so all meets with students tomorrow have been cancelled. I am not sure about next week…we are waiting until the district gives us direction. Sorry about this inconvenience!

If anyone needs support for completing your math work, please email me and I can do my best to answer your question(s) via email. Your assignments for this week are due tomorrow, Friday 4/24 by 5 pm. I will have next weeks assignments posted soon after.

Thank you in advance for your patience as the glitches get worked out! The district wants to make sure there are safeguards in place for both teachers and students.
