Jump Rope For Heart 2014

I am happy to announce that our school raised $1905.67 for the American Heart Association to fight heart disease and stroke!  Fifth grader, Abdu Hijazi, from Mrs. Gorman’s class was the top fundraiser!  He raised $200.oo – all of it online! Congratulations to Abdu and Congratulations to everyone who donated to help save a life.  You are all Heart Heroes!

Volleyball: Teachers vs Students

The annual Teachers vs Students Volleyball game will be held in May.  Three students from each 5th grade classroom will make up the student team.  The student team will be decided at the end of April.  Will this be the year that the Teacher’s undefeated record will be broken?

Mini Martian Marathon is Saturday, April 12, 2014!!

The race will be held at Ford Field Park in Dearborn at 12:00-noon.  The runners have been running since September and have run 25 miles.  They will run 1.2 miles at the race and will then have run a full marathon – 26.2 miles! Mrs. Suarez will be running the 5K at 8 am and will be back to coach the runners as most of them will run in their first race!

THE T-SHIRT THAT WILL BE WORN BY ALL OF THE HUNDREDS OF RUNNERS WAS DESIGNED BY HENRY FORD FOURTH GRADER (MRS. SHUPE’S CLASS) ABDALLAH ZAID!!

4th Marking Period Activities

This marking period we are working on throwing and catching in all grades and batting in grades 3 – 5.  Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades are also working on skipping.  Fourth and 5th grades will also be running their 13 and 15 minute runs in May.  Increased flexibility  is the fitness goal in grades 4 and 5.

I hope you all have a relaxing break!  Sleep in, have some fun, read a lot and stay active!  Don’t forget to fill in your Fitness Elf exercise squares and Healthy Eating number squares!
