Mrs. Suarez's P.E Blog

Have a sunny day!

Lots going on in P.E. Classes!

Hello, Hello!

We’ve been in school a few weeks now and we are getting into a groove.  The BIG thing going on in 4th and 5th Grades are the 13 (4th grade) and 15 (5th grade) minute runs!  Those runs will begin the week of September 28th!  Don’t forget to practice everyday from now until the day before your test.  Students may qualify for the Robert Cipriano Memorial Run (it’s a free run, but students must qualify in order to run) during their running test.  Another run that they can participate in is called the Unity Run.  This Run will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2015

Happy New School Year!

Welcome back students!

This is going to be an exciting school year!  The new addition looks great!  You will be surprised as you walk throughout the school at how many things have changed!

Big news for 4th and 5th graders – – – – we will be swimming in P.E. Class this year so don’t put your bathing suits away!  It looks like late October will be our first time to swim.  If you have long hair, I encourage you to get a rubber/silicone swim cap to help keep your hair dry.  I have a limited supply for sale.  Also, if you want to wear swim goggles, that’s no problem, but only the kind for swimming, not the snorkling kind.

We have an additional P.E Teacher this year.  His name is Mr. Tapp.

We are looking forward to a great year!

Keep smiling…….and have a sunny day!

Where did the warm weather go?

Hello, all!

What happened to the warm weather?  Just last Friday we were sweating in the gym and now we are wearing jackets!  I hope it warms up and stays warm very soon.

We are going outside and jogging and playing kick ball when the weather lets us.  It’s much more fun out there in the sun and breeze  and warmth.  We don’t have to worry about kicking the ball and hitting the ceiling and the ball has no walls to stop it from going and going and going…  Mrs. Haviland’s class had a real treat last week.  We saw a rainbow cloud!!  It’s very hard to explain, but the cloud had all the colors of the rainbow and it was horizontal and not in a rainbow arch shape.  It was nothing we had ever seen before!!!  Cool…………………..

COMING UP – JUST FOR YOU – ANOTHER RAFFLE!!!  STAY TUNED TO THIS BLOG!  THE RAFFLE QUESTIONS WILL APPEAR NEXT WEEK!

There are some cool raffle prizes, so read  and then follow the directions exactly!  See you then!!!

Kids Martian Marathon is out of this world!!

Martian Marathon RunnersLast Saturday was the Kids Martian Marathon at Ford Field Park in Dearborn.  37 Henry Ford 4th and 5th Graders participated in the run.  A BIG” THANK YOU” to Ms. McCormick and Mrs. Spencer who helped the students get ready for the race by handing out t-shirts, race bibs, pins and bandanas.  They answered parent questions, pointed out where the bathroom was located and directed the students to the Blue Cross/Blue Shield tent so they could claim their Martian Log prize. They also made sure the students got to the start line and off they went!  What a great run – up the hill, down the hill,  through the grass, into and out of the woods and then, there is was THE FINISH LINE!  After the students finished, they were given a very cool martian medal and a backpack filled with snacks and water. A fun day was had by all!  Some pictures were taken and will be downloaded here, very soon.  Hopefully, we’ll have more 4th and 5th graders next year in Running Club so they can participate in the Kids Martian Marathon, too!!!
