Well…this is the first week of the 3rd Marking Period! Lots of new skills to learn and practice!! Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades are working on catching fly balls, sliding sideways and Cooperation (as part of their Sportsmanship grade). 3rd grade is working on Jumping rope, underhand strike and cooperation, also. 4th and 5th grade are working on sit ups, underhand strike and Respect (as part of their Sportsmanship grade). DON’T FORGET 4TH AND 5TH GRADERS – YOU NEED TO PRACTICE YOUR SIT UPS AT HOME FOR 1 MINUTE, AT LEAST 2-3 TIMES PER WEEK!!!
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART letters to parents and donation envelopes went home this week! We are collecting donations for the American Heart Association to help those with Heart Disease. Did you know that heart disease can affect anyone at any age? It is the leading cause of death in America! Healthy habits can help prevent many risk factors of heart disease! We are saving lives!

Healthy tidbit:
Did you know that drinking too many sugared drinks ( pop, juice and sweet tea) can lead to erosion of tooth enamel? It can also lead to obesity. It also results in not enough consumption of calcium. Milk is a primary source of calcium in the diets of children and adolescents. Low calcium intake can result in the risk of osteoporosis and fractures of the bones.
Sooooo……cut down the the amount of sweetened drinks and drink more milk! Chocolate milk is even better than the sweet drinks.
