Happy Friday the 13th!!! Hope your day was filled with good luck! This week begins the 2nd Marking Period assessments in PE Class! All grades will be assessed on skills they have learned and practiced in PE class! ALL students are being assessed on the basketball hand dribble. Other assessments include: galloping and jumping rope. We will finish next week and then use those skills while playing some fun games!
THE MITTEN TREE IS HERE!! Information went home today concerning the Mitten Tree. It’s actually the mitten, glove, hat, scarf and socks tree!! We are collecting new items to put on the tree. At the end of the month, the Running Club will be sorting, counting and boxing up the items and then the boxes will be taken to Starfish Family Services, an organization in Wayne County that services those people in need in Wayne County. I hope you can help!
More information! – Jump Rope for Heart will begin in February! I will be sending out additional information soon so stay tuned!!!!
HEALTHY TIDBIT – Did you know that everything you eat belongs in a group? There are 5 food groups – fruits, vegetables, protein, dairy and grains. You should have something from every group at every meal.
Oh, and 3 other things – 1) WATER-drinks lots of water every day, it keeps your body hydrated, helps with your memory and helps to keep you energized! 2) THE LIMITED CATEGORY. It’s not really a group, but these are foods that you should only eat occasionally, such as french fries, cake, cookies, chips and candy! 3)EXERCISING AND STAYING ACTIVE! You can’t get healthy and stay healthy with out exercising and being active EVERYDAY!!!

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday, January 16th. Please take a minute to remember this remarkable man. A man who peacefully fought for equality for all people.
