Have a sunny day!

Hi! Are you staying active everyday?

on March 18, 2020

Hello, boys and girls! Have you seen my short video on Class Dojo? If you haven’t, check it out. I’m doing my best, also, to keep active every day. It keeps me healthy, helps me to focus on the things I need to do and it makes me feel good!!! Please, Please – check out the Class links on this page. They are FUN activities! You should also be checking out your teacher’s lesson plans. The Special area teacher’s spot is near the bottom of your teacher’s plans. All grades have a weekly calendar of activities. You should be following those and filling them out!

Here are 3 activities I thought you could do outside, weather permitting.

1- Play TREE TAG with a family member. Each of you stand on the opposite side of a larger tree. Decide who is “it” first (rock, paper, scissors, shoot one time). One of you says “pickle” and the person who is “it” slides sideways around the tree and tries to tag the other person, the other person tries to get away. Once the other person gets tagged they are it and the game continues. You must stay within 3 feet of the tree trunk, and remember-don’t play this game with a tree near the street!

2 – MORE SQUARES – Start jogging down your sidewalk. Count each sidewalk square you jog over. See how many squares you can jog over without walking. Then walk 50 squares to catch your breath, then try again and see if you can jog more squares. Do the about 5 times and then do it again the next day and see if you can increase the amount of squares that you can jog without stopping.

3 – JUMPING JACK AND JILL – This is basically the same activity as MORE SQUARES except you can do it while jumping rope! If you don’t have a rope you can: 1-Buy one on line (make sure it’s like the kind we use in PE Class), 2-Use a piece of rope you have at home (measure it like we do in PE Class and add 6″, then tie a know on the end), or 3-Make one out of plastic bags (knot them together and make the right length).

CHECK OUT HOW TO MAKE A JUMP ROPE OUT OF PLASTIC BAGS UNDER CLASS LINKS ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THIS PAGE!

I’ll keep in touch everyday, so check back tomorrow for more ways to stay active!
