Weekly Update

We will be concluding our economics study over the next week and a half.  We will continue talking about needs, wants, goods, services, and learn about producers, consumers, and scarcity. I would like to end the unit with the students producing a good or providing a service to “sell” to the class.  Each student will be asked to produce a good (maybe a handmade craft or a store bought candy etc.) or provide a service (pencil sharpener, shoe tying, etc).  The students will then be given pretend money to shop for these items.  I would like our shopping day to be either Friday, February 10th or Monday, February 13th.

Tuesday February 14th is our Valentines day party.  Your child may bring cards to pass out to the class.  I will send a list of names home on Monday.

Friday, February 17, will be our 100th day celebration.  Please  have your child collect 100 small items to bring in.  Items should fit into a lunch bag and should not cost much.  Some examples are 100 pennies, cotton balls, pieces of cereal, dry noddles, etc. We will be sorting the items into groups of two, five, and 10 and counting the groups to 100.

I have also updated the links at the side of my blog to include seesaw and Mrs. Pantaleo’s blog.  Mrs. Pantaleo has some great educational links!

Tomorrow

Tomorrow is late start!

Tomorrow is also reward day (movie). Your child may bring/wear their pajamas to school tomorrow. Please keep in mind that the weather is supposed to be warmer tomorrow and the kids will most likely go out for recess. Snow pants, hats, coats, mittens, and boots are recommended.

Moon journal

Tonight your child will bring home a moon observation book and binoculars. Please pick a few nights over the next three weeks to observe (look closely) and draw the moon. Pay close attention to the shape of the lighted part of the moon. Your child child should notice the shape change.

Gingerbread houses

On Friday, December 23rd from 1:30 -2:30 we will be building gingerbread houses. Each student may invite one adult to help build! If you would like to volunteer to send in supplies, please sign up on our sign up genius. Thank you!! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E084EA4AD2BA2F85-gingerbread
