Henry Ford Collegiate Academy
This is a partnership between Dearborn Public Schools and Henry Ford College. Through this program, students can earn BOTH a high school diploma and a 2 year associate degree in only five years at NO COST to parents or students.
This unique five year program allows students to attend school at their comprehensive high school (Dearborn, Edsel Ford or Fordson High School) and Henry Ford College simultaneously. Music, athletics, theater, clubs, commencement ceremonies, honors night, prom, homecoming and all of the other activities that complete the high school experience are still a part of your child’s experience when they enroll in the Henry Ford Collegiate Academy. Plus, students have access to all of the programs and offerings of a true college experience at Henry Ford College.
Students enter the program at the start of their junior year based on the scores they achieved on the PSAT 10 taken in the spring of their 10th grade year.
Are you eligible?
- Students must score college and career ready on the PSAT taken in the spring of their tenth grade. The current PSAT-10 benchmarks are 430 for Evidenced Based Reading and Writing and 48o for Math.
- Students must be on-track to graduate.
- Students must have attended Dearborn Public Schools during their tenth grade year.

- What is the program all about? The Henry Ford Collegiate Academy is an opportunity for students to attain both a high school diploma and a two year associate degree in five years at no cost to the student or parent.
- Who is eligible to receive this scholarship and enroll in the program? Any 11th grade Dearborn Public Schools student who has been successful in all 9th and 10th grade courses, attended Dearborn Public Schools during their 10th grade year and achieved the required scores on the PSAT 10 test given the spring of 10th grade is eligible.
- Does my child have to attend a certain high school? Students enrolled at Dearborn High School, Edsel Ford High School or Fordson High School can be part of this program.
- Will my child be able to participate in sports and other activities? Yes. Students enrolled in the program will still be able to take part in high school activities at their home high school during through their 12th grade year. This includes music, athletics, theater, clubs, commencement ceremonies, honors night, prom, homecoming and all of the other activities as time permits.
- Does Dearborn Public Schools really cover the cost of college books, tuition and fees? Yes. The district covers the cost of all college classes in the program taken during fall and winter semesters during their 11th, 12th and 13th years. This includes books and fees. There is no cost to the student or parent.
- What about transportation to the college? The parents and students are responsible for transportation to and from the college campus.
- When my child completes the program, will the course work transfer to a four year university? Yes. College credit earned at HFC is transferable to bachelors degree programs. HFC’s transfer and articulation agreements apply credits earned through this program. Students will also enter the four year university with two year’s worth of college credits and be eligible to apply for freshman scholarships.
