Classroom News from Room 211

Midwinter break is here from February 20 -February 24.

Hopefully, the weather will be nice and the children will be able to get outside and play.

Please remind your child to read every day. The local library is a great place for the children to pick out books that interest them. The books should be “good fit” books. Students should be able to read most of the words.

Practice your basic math facts. Our goal is to know from memory basic facts with sums to 20.

Homework – Students neatly fill out the All About Me page. These will be hung in the hallway so please have them think about their answers before they write so they are neat and make sense.

Scholastic News – Read and answer the questions on the back. Please put your name on the front.

Have fun! Go outside and play!

HOMEWORK

I will be sending home homework for the break. The math homework will concentrate on basic facts and fact families and pattern counting (counting by 10’s and 100’s). Many students are struggling in both areas. These skills need to become automatic. Practice doesn’t need to be tedious, just a few minutes a day. Students can practice math facts with flash cards, on the computer(math flashcard sites), or with card games (addition top it).

Have a safe and happy break!!
