Summer is coming!! What will you do to keep your child reading??

If students don’t read all summer they will fall behind and have to make up the reading levels in the fall.

Here is an article with suggestions to prevent summer slide.

https://www.scholastic.com/parents/resources/article/developing-reading-skills/three-ways-to-prevent-summer-slide

Have books available to your child. You can do this by going to the library or getting books from garage sales.

If you are traveling overseas this summer, don’t forget to pack a few books.

Thank you so much for the Kleenex donations!!

April Reading Logs are due on Tuesday.

We will have the Unit 5 Social Studies Test on Friday. A study guide will be coming home. Please read over the study guide daily with your child.

We will be revisiting place value, plus 10, plus 100, and money in our new Math Unit 10.

Students have been writing wonderful poems that will be entered in the Henry Ford Annual Poetry contest.

Spring has arrived and our days are getting longer. Because it is lighter later, children want to stay up later. It is really important for children to get 10 – 12 hours of sleep a night. We still have a lot to accomplish between now and June. Please have your children continue to keep a consistent bed time. Thank you!

We will be going to the Jiffy Mix Factory in Chelsea on Thursday, May 17th all day. Students will need to bring in a bag lunch (no glass please). The cost of the trip is $4.00 (for the bus). The tour of the factory is free. If you would like to chaperone, please be sure you have a form on file in the office.

With spring comes allergies. We are out of Kleenex. If you have not sent in a box of tissue this year, please consider sending in a box for the class to share.
