HALLOWEEN  is tomorrow,  Tuesday, October 31. Students may bring their costumes to school in a bag. Because we have gym right after lunch, we will put our costumes on before we go to lunch. STUDENTS MUST WEAR GYM SHOES TO GYM. We will have some fun on Halloween doing a variety of activities in the classroom in the morning. If you have a volunteer form on file in the office you are welcome to come in to help. Please be at school at 10:30.  You are welcome to come to the school costume parade  at 2:00 which will be on the school track if the weather is good. We will parade in the halls if there is bad weather. 

Feel free to send in a Halloween treat if you would like. We have 26 students in our class. 

October Reading Logs are due on Wednesday.

Friday is a half day for students. Teachers will be working on report cards and getting ready for Parent/ Teacher conferences.

There is no school for students on Tuesday, November 7. Teachers will have Professional Development.

SCIENCE

We have been learning about matter and the properties of matter. Last week, we did an exploration about the insulating property of cotton socks/gloves, aluminum foil, and Styrofoam.

Classroom News from Room 211

Tomorrow we will be going to the school library to check out new books. Please help your  child remember to bring their library books to school tomorrow. 

Brrr! It is getting cold outside. Please remind your child to wear a coat to school. We wait outside in the morning before school and go out to recess daily. 

Tomorrow is the last day to bring $4.00  for the Pumpkin Patch on Friday, October 27th.

Today is picture day! Bring your best smile!

Please remind your child to read daily and color the correct square on the reading log so they can earn a Personal Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut.  October Reading logs are due on Wednesday, November 1.

HALF DAY – Friday, November 3. School will be dismissed at 11:45. Teachers will be working on report cards and preparing for Parent/ Teacher conferences.

Powers Out at HF

Due to a power outage at Henry Ford Elementary there is no school for students today. Please have your child spend at least 20 minutes reading today.

Late Start on Wednesday, October 18. School begins at 9:40. 

I hope to see you at Social Studies Night on Thursday, October 19, from 5:00 – 6:30. There will be many fun activities for students to participate in. 

Picture Day is October 23. 

Students in 2nd Grade will have their hearing screened at the end of the month.

Students are enjoying the fresh fruit and veggie snacks. This week we had pears, apples, kiwi, and sweet peppers.

Please remind your child to read daily and color the correct square on the reading log so they can earn a Personal Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut.

Classroom News from Room 211

Scholastic Book Orders are due by Wednesday, October 11. 

Fruit/Veggie Snacks start tomorrow. We never know what we will get. It could be pineapple pieces or carrots and ranch dressing. Please send in a healthy snack on Fridays.

Rock Painting – as part of our school wide  PBIS  (Positive Behavior  Intervention and Supports) program we will all be painting small rocks to be put in a rock garden at school. If you haven’t sent in a small rock yet please do so by Wednesday.

Friday, October 13th  is a half day so teachers can attend professional development. School will be dismissed at 11:45. 

Wednesday, October 18th is a late start. School begins at 9:40. 

Social Studies Night is Thursday, October 19th from 5:00 – 6:30. Hope to see you there!

September Reading Logs are due. Students will receive a new Pizza Hut Book It reading log for October. Students color a square on the calendar for each day that they read. If students  read for 500 minutes for the month, they will receive a coupon for a personal pan pizza.

Fresh Fruit/Veggies Snack

We will receive a fresh fruit or veggie snack M-Th starting Monday, October 9.

LATE START – Wednesday, October 18th, school will begin at 9:40.

Social Studies Night – Thursday, October 19, from 5:00 – 6:30

Picture Day is October 23.
