We had some St. Patrick’s Day fun by wearing green! Guest Readers have been sharing favorite books. Thank you for visiting during March is Reading Month!
We are very happy to announce that Ali won the 2nd Grade Math Bee. Good job Ali!
We had a very nice morning at the Dearborn Historical Museum. We had the opportunity to plant a corn, pumpkin, or bean seed. Making butter was a favorite of all the students. They enjoyed tasting the butter on a cracker. We visited the Gardner House and saw an interesting way to make toast. We got to see many artifacts from the past in the school room. The students used a slate and chalk, read from a McGuffey Reader, and read a map of the Michigan area. Overall, it was a terrific field trip.
Our class loves Math Workshop time! The students rotate in small groups to a variety of math activities that reinforce math skills.
I love March not only because spring is coming, but because March is Reading Month! I really enjoy sharing my love of reading with my students.
We will be enjoying many reading activities this month. This week the oldest student in each family will be bringing home a chapter book to be enjoyed as a family. We have included a calendar with suggested pages to be read each day. The calendar also has special events listed on Fridays.
Family Literacy Night is Thursday, March 5, from 5:00 to 6:30. Students will have the opportunity to participate in several fun reading activities. One of these activities is Reader’s Theater. We always have a good time.
Our class will be attending our schools Spring Scholastic Book Fair on Thursday, March 12, at 10:30.
A note will be coming home inviting parents to come in to read a favorite book to the class. We look forward to your visit!
