Next week is a short week. There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Day. Ask your child what they know about MLK. Ask them to tell you how life was different when MLK was a boy. Ask them to explain what segregation and integration mean.
There is a HALF DAY on Thursday, January 22 for teacher duty day. This is time for teachers to work on report cards.
There is NO SCHOOL for students on Friday, January 23 for teacher professional development. Teachers will be reviewing the procedures for giving the NWEA which begins the following week.
We will have a Unit 5 math test on Tuesday. Students have been practicing the skills needed in class and on their homework. The Unit 3 Social Studies test is on Thursday morning. Studying for Social Studies will be the only homework for next week. There is a lot of material in their study booklet. The test is a multiple choice test that I will read to them.
We will be taking the NWEA math test on Tuesday, January 27 in the morning and the reading test on Wednesday, January 28 in the afternoon. Please make sure your child gets a good night’s rest by having them in bed by 9:00 at the latest. Also, please give them a good breakfast in the morning. We want the students to do their best and show growth from the fall score.
