This week in 8th grade ELA, students are working with literary terms of suspense. They are creating a storyboard of the literary terms with examples of each term. Their storyboard will be used as a study tool for them to learn the terms. They will be quizzed over the words and examples this Friday in class. I am reviewing these terms with them so that they are equipped to pull out literary elements of suspense when we begin reading “The Hitchhiker” on Monday.

This week in 7th grade ELA, students are beginning the argumentative writing unit. They participated in a 4 corners activity that helped them practice taking a position on a topic and making an effective argument. The rest of the week, they will be reading and annotating an article that includes why students should and should not play Fortnite. They will be selecting evidence for each argument and writing C.E.R.’s for each side. Next week, they will begin the writing process for their essay.
