Newsletter for the Week of October 28th

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • Our letter of the week was the letter “H”.  We read an interactive letter book, sang letter H  songs, stamped the letter, and glued down pictures of items that start with the letter to a house
  • Our core vocab word of the week was the word “help”.  We helped Mrs. Gallery carve a pumpkin, helped clean up after ourselves at lunch and snack, and helped Ms. Ashley count candy on our cookies during a game
  • We read many books including Five Hungry Ghosts, I Need My Monster, and Go Away Big Green Monster
  • The children helped clean out a pumpkin and carve it into a jack-o-lantern. We picked out the seeds so Ms. Ashley can baked them for us
  • We went trick or treating at ASC and got lots of candy
  • The students worked on their fine motor skills
  • We painted at the easel

Title One Meeting

Dear families,

You are invited to attend Snow school’s annual Title One meeting.  We will discuss Title One services and how they are utilized at Snow and with your child. The principal, Mrs. Alcodray will share Snow’s data for the past 3 years.   Light refreshments will be served.  Come join us on Monday, November 4th at 3:00 in the Cafeteria.

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • Our letter of the week was the letter “G”.  We read an interactive letter book, sang letter G  songs, stamped the letter, and glued down pictures of items that start with the letter to a grape vine
  • Our core vocab word of the week was the word “go”.  We read Go Away Big Green Monster and used our props to tell the parts of the monster to go away, we had the children go fishing for colors, and we made the balls in a toy go faster and faster
  • We read many books including The Hungry Witch and There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Bat
  • The children sorted trees by season after reading the story The Changing Tree.  We talked about how trees look during each of the four seasons
  • We took turns rolling die and counting the number we landed on then we fed our monkey prop that many bananas
  • The children worked on their fine motor skills with puzzles, put in jars, nuts and bolts, and shape sorters
  • We drew in our journals
  • The children played outside on the playground
  • We welcome a new friend to our classroom! Welcome to Snow, William!!

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • Our letter of the week was the letter “F”.  We read an interactive letter book, sang letter F songs, stamped the letter, and finger painted
  • Our core vocab word of the week was the word “finish”.  We colored pictures and glued them down when we were finished, we explained when we were finished reading pages in a book, and we said when we were finished eating
  • We read many books including Five Little Bats Flying in the Night, Five Hungry Ghosts, and Go Away Big Green Monster
  • The children finger painted with yellow and red to make orange
  • We took a nature walk and found things that represent fall such as different colored leaves and acorns
  • The students conducted a science experiment with the items we found on our nature walk to see if they would sink or float in water.  Everyone had a chance to make a prediction then we tested each item by putting them in water
  • We found out how many pumpkins tall each student is and practiced counting

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • Our letter of the week was the letter “E”.  We read an interactive letter book, sang letter E songs, stamped the letter, and glued down pictures that start with the letter E to eggs in a nest
  • Our core vocab word of the week was the word “eat”.  We read a story and pointed out who was eating, sang songs about eating and practiced signing eat at lunch and snack
  • We read many books including Glad Monster, Sad Monster, It’s Pumpkin Day Mouse, and Go Away Big Green Monster
  • The children read a counting spider book and stacked blocks to match the number of spiders on each page
  • We practiced our scissor skills with pumpkin name puzzles that we cut apart and glued back together
  • The children drew in their journals
  • We worked on building stamina during read to self time
