Fine Motor Friday!

On a normal Friday at school we practice our fine motor skills.  Today, let’s focus on hand strengthening activities!

  • Crumple up paper- Find some newspaper or scrap paper and have your child squeeze it into a small ball with their hands
  • Squeeze sponges- This would be perfect to work on in the bathtub! Fill and sponge with water and have your child squeeze all the water out
  • Scissor skills- Not all of my students are ready for this, but if your child is have them practice cutting up scrap paper – make sure to supervise this activity!
  • Play dough- hide a small toy in play dough and have your child use their hands to pull the play dough apart until they find the toy. If you don’t have play dough at home watch the video below to see how you can make your own. Have your child help you make it! We bake every Tuesday at school and the students love to help measure, pour, and stir!
