Newsletter for the Week of November 4th

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • Our letter of the week was the letter “I”.  We read an interactive letter book, sang letter I  songs, stamped the letter, and glued down pictures of items that start with the letter to an island
  • Our core vocab word of the week was the word “in”.  We put pegs in a jar, threw bean bags into a basket, and danced to the hokey pokey putting our body parts in the middle
  • We read many books including Mouse’s First Fall, The Pigeon has to go to School, and Let it Fall
  • The children practiced shape identification, number recognition and counting with a shape turkey craft that we hung in the hallway outside our classroom
  • We practiced counting and number recognition with a hedgehog game.  We took turns rolling a die, counting the number of dots, finding the number on a flash card, then putting that many spikes into the hedgehog
  • The students worked on identifying the first letter of their name with our class book then decorated their letter with a bingo marker
  • We worked on our fine motor skills with puzzles, legos, lacing, pegs, and nuts and bolts
