1. theme– Central message or lesson the author wants the audience to take away from the story and apply to real life.
2. simile– two things are directly compared because they share a common feature. The word AS or LIKE is used to compare the two words.
3. metaphor– Two things are directly compared by stating one thing is another thing.
4. physical property– characteristic of matter that can be observed without changing matter into something new.
5. chemical property– a characteristic of matter that can be observed only when matter is changed into a new kind of matter.
6. condensation– the process of changing from a gas to a liquid or solid state.
7. region– a large, usually continuous segment of surface or space; area that shares common characteristics.
8. culture– Social behavior patterns, arts, beliefs, institutions, and all other products of human work and thought
9. abundance– very large quantity of something
10. quotient- the answer to a division problem
11. improper fraction– a fraction in which the numerator is greater than or equal to the denominator.
12. vertical– in an up and down direction or position.
