Student Growth Supports

Smith has been using some district supported programs, including, Khan Academy & Moby Max for Math & Language Arts. If your child is in need of additional supports, please encourage your child to log on to their account. As your child accesses the programs, they build minutes which support classroom instruction. If you need additional information on how to review your child’s progress, please email the counselor (eldern@dearbornschools.org) or stop by the counseling office.

A Wonderful 1st Week at Smith Middle School

The Counselor’s Office just completed the first week of the 2017-18 school year and it was wonderful!

The mission of the school counselor is to support students’ physical, social, mental, and emotional well-being. In the process we plan to conduct group sessions throughout the semester on various topics, ie: high school preparedness, academic check-in, PBIS expectations, Adjusting Tweens’ social emotionally.

  • To support our incoming 6th graders transitioning from elementary school, I will be meeting with every student beginning next week.

  • Please contact the counselor for questions about your child’s schedule. If you have specific questions about a class, the teacher is the best place to start and can be emailed. Addresses are available on the school website.

  • Students should have a recommended supply list for the year. Any child who is unable to provide supplies should contact the counseling office.

  • Please stop by the counseling office and browse the Community Resources area.

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  (more…)
