Smith is Awarded “Emerald Green School” Designation Again!!!
The OL Smith-Green school student/staff committee recently submitted an application for green school again this year and was awarded a Michigan Emerald School Green School designation. The following was the commentary from Ms. Gregor, The Wayne County Michigan Green School Coordinator.
“I received and reviewed your Michigan Green School activity verification. Congratulations! Because of the hard work from the teachers, students, and families, Smith Middle School has received the 2019 Michigan Emerald School designation, by completing at least 15 energy saving and environmental tasks. The efforts you made to complete the tasks are very impressive. I especially enjoyed learning about shark hunting and the Living and Working in Space presentation. I urge Smith Middle School to continue with the energy saving and environmental tasks and hope you encourage others to follow.”
Congratulations to all the students, staff, community and the district who support our GREEN initiatives. Smith continues to do it’s to best to implement energy saving and environmental protection. This year we have a new student committee made up of 6th and 7th graders full of ideas and activities. Please stop in and check out Smith’s recycle bulleting board coming soon! Enjoy some of the wonderful work and artifacts submitted in our application. Thank you, Ms. Elder & Ms. Wilcox, Smith-Green School Coordinators
