Welcome Back Vikings!
Last week Smith continued its tradition of welcoming our new 6th graders with a live band and an amazing “socially distance” clap-in through the main hall of Smith. I met with all 6th graders in group sessions via Zoom and delivered an engaging and fun presentation of various topics: academic, social emotional supports, tutoring options and shared inspiring stories. Students also tested their “Common Sense” in a survey and did amazingly better than adults who took the same test. Check with your child on this fun activity!
This week I continue this support by checking in with every 6th grader on their academic growth, attendance, future goals for the semester, NWEA and answered questions. Please have a conversation with your child about what they took away from their group session and free free to reach out for questions.
