Dear World, From Smith Students
The Best Year of my life
What I think of your sacrifices – I loved this school year because I made so many new friends this year that I am planning on keeping for the rest of my life. What I will remember of your sacrifice- I will remember our very fun fall festival and assembly and all my good memories with all my friends at Nowlin. thank you so much for this amazing school year. What I will tell my family in 25 years when they read about us in history- I will tell my family in 25 years how much of a memorable year this was that I started off with being the shy kid in a wheelchair into a girl that is confident and walking again. What I want front liners to know- This is one of the best years and grades you can ever have and you will make so many new friends. When my kids come home and complain about simple things, I will tell them… Things will get better one day once you grow up and meet a whole bunch of people who will change your life. Dear world, Twenty five years ago my world changed, and it was scary! I came home from school one March day and didn’t return back the rest of the year. Worst part, we couldn’t leave the house and hang out with our friends. We had to stay home to protect ourselves from the coronavirus. People were dying at a rapid rate. I was scared someone I cared about would die. Every time my mom went to the store I was afraid she would get the virus. We had to leave the house wearing a mask and gloves. We could only play with the people who lived in our houses. Our trip to Florida was cancelled. We weren’t even able to see our own family members, because it wasn’t safe for any of us. Everything changed, everything! Smith 6th grader, C.S.
