WANT TO DESIGN A MOBILE APP TO SOLVE REAL PROBLEMS?
Hurry! goIT is an opportunity for interested middle schoolers! No experience needed.
Students will work with STEM & DCMST students twice a week after school from March-April and will learn to design a thinking model & work in teams to design a mobile app to solve real-world problems facing the community. Students design a functioning prototype and at the end of the program, “pitch” their app and idea to a community of judges Shark Tank style. Through this process, students will participate in six modules that include fun activities, computational thinking, prototyping, presentation-building skills, and more. Computer Science is demystified, and students gain the skills and confidence required to pursue STEM degrees.
At the end of April, will come together with other students and celebrate their creativity and entrepreneurial skills used as they explored, created, and promoted their innovative mobile app solutions to everyday challenges in their community. Attached is the sign-up form. Who knows, maybe you’ll end up on “Shark Tank!”
Mrs. Richardson (math & computer science teacher) will run the program. Here is a form for students to sign up.
