Google Classroom Login

I have been trying to add some assignments to Google Classroom. Students can access Google Classroom by following the aforementioned steps.

1.Go to Dearborn Schools Student Portal

2. Login to Clever (Username: Student number@ dearbornschools.org/ Password: Birthdate (01012011)

3.Click on Google Classroom and join class

4.Enter class code jvwcyfl

Note: Mrs. Grahl and I will be uploading forms soon so that you can complete spelling activities in Google Classroom.

Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to write for two reasons:

1- PLEASE respond to this post I need to know specially who is looking at my posts. Thank you!

2- On Monday, Mrs. Grahl and myself are going to make a 3-week spread sheet that will have specific websites/work to do each of the days we are off. We will both be checking the required websites to see your child’s daily work

  • BrainpopJr.- Free stuff section includes Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts and SEL information. We’re currently focusing on life science but feel free to explore.
  • Discovery Education– Educational videos that cross grade levels.  Log in with Google. Magic school bus is a good idea for Science videos but feel free to explore.

Language Arts

  • Storyline Online– The SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s award-winning children’s literacy website, Storyline Online, streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations. 
  • Readworks–  Provides K-12 teachers with a large, high-quality library of curated nonfiction and literary articles, along with reading comprehension and vocabulary supports, formative assessments, teacher guidance, and more.  Must have an account, but they are free. Mrs.Grahl’s password is DSQKNC Ms. Sims’s password is ZMCZAM. 
  • MobyMax- Access through Clever
  • ReadWriteThink.org– reading and writing resources across grade levels.
  • BrainpopJr.- Free stuff section includes Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts and SEL information

  • Scholastic News, a nonfiction magazine just for first-graders. Your child will have his or her own magazines to take home. You can also go online to the Scholastic News website. Science

  • Mystery Science – Mystery Science features multimedia science units for K-5. Each lesson consists of a series of short videos and prompts guide student discussion. This is followed by an experiment that can be done at home. Teachers can send students specific lessons via a link. Students do not have to be logged on to Mystery Science! Go to MyPD to watch a video about how to find these student links and the different ways you can share the link with your class.  HOW TO ACCESS: Go to Mystery Science, students will click on “mini-lessons.” Go to the top corner and click on “student links.” Explore and enjoy the episodes!  We will be focusing on plants and animals in class.

Week of March 9th – 13th

Hello Parents and Guardians,

NEED TO KNOW:

  1. There is a ½ day on Friday, March 13th.
  2. There is a late start on Wednesday, March 18th. 
  3. Spring Break is the week of April 6th-10th.

SPELLING:  This week’s words will have a “ow” sound at the end of the word. Our words are: free, sleep, deep, need, seed, street, speech, sheet.  Our bonus words: after, open.

WRITING:  We are going to work on informational writing.  We will learn about a topic and write a report about it.

READING:  We will work to learn how to make inferences and predictions. We will continue to learn about blends and digraphs.

MATH:  There will be a review paper on Monday and the students will have a test given in small groups on Tuesday and Wednesday.  We will start Module 4 on Thursday. Module 4 is about place value, comparison, addition and subtraction to 40.  

SCIENCE:   We will continue to finish our unit about how the “Earth moves in the sky.”

SOCIAL STUDIES:  We will complete our maps unit.

Week of March 2nd – 6th

NEED TO KNOW:

SPELLING:  This week’s words will have a “ow” sound at the end of the word. Our words are: owl, how, now, down, town, plow, frown, tower.  Our bonus words: over, under.

WRITING:  We are going to work on informational writing.  We will learn about a topic and write a report about it.

READING:  We are still going to work on the same skills as last week’s due to snow days: Students will learn the different ending sounds (blends and digraphs) to strengthen their reading skills. This week we will continue to work on learning how to analyze the author’s purpose for writing the text and learn how to describe an author’s purpose for using specific illustrations.

MATH:  We are working on our Module 3 and we are learning about measurement.  Students should complete lessons 1-12 by the end of the week.

SCIENCE:   We will continue to finish our unit about how the “Earth moves in the sky.”

SOCIAL STUDIES:  We work on our maps unit. Students will have a paper they will take home to write their address and at least one phone number they have memorized. Students will be tested on this information.

This week we will continue to work on learning how to analyze the author’s purpose for writing the text and learn how to describe an author’s purpose for using specific illustrations.
