Week of October 14th-18th

Hello Parents and Guardians,

NEED TO KNOW:

  1. There is a late start on Wednesday, October 16th.
  2. There is a ½ day on Friday, November 1st.
  3. We don’t have school on Tuesday, November 5th, due to election day.

SPELLING:  We will be working on the short “ar” words.  Our words are: far, arm, farm, card, yard, start, art, jar.  Our extra words are: are, was.

WRITING:  We are learning how to write a complete sentence by writing personal narratives.  We will be doing this type of writing until the end of October.

READING:  We are learning the parts of a story, (character, setting, problem, solution) and how to take those parts and turn them into a retelling of the book.  We are also learning about parts of speech, Nouns, and the types of nouns: common and proper nouns.

MATH:  We will have a mid-module test on Wednesday this week.  The students will complete a math review sheet on Monday that they will bring home to use for practice.  I expect we will take the test on Wednesday. The test will be on all of the work we have done so far. Students should have all lessons 1-24 completed in their homework book as review for the test.

SCIENCE:   We will learn about light and sound.

SOCIAL STUDIES:  We will be finishing our lesson on the important to have rules and how to be good citizens.

We will have another great week!

Ms. Sims
